XionKB:Beyond our wiki
Our wiki is but a small part of a stupefyingly large Web. Unlike some websites and (unfortunately) many online communities, we do not operate as a fiefdom or cultural reprieve. On the contrary, all value created by our wiki should be fully externalisable, in line with the ethos of our licencing. History looks less fondly towards actors of ego, and is comparatively generous to those who solely offer the fruit of their work to its mantle. So, let us do that.
Encyclosphere
In case you haven't heard, Wikipedia is dead. If that sounds like news to you, it's probably because you don't know what you were missing on Wikipedia, when it was all of the articles that never got published. Deletionism is a cancer, and it is very much killing the site. The good news is, Wikipedia isn't the only wiki in the universe. Wikipedia cofounder Larry Sanger started the Encyclosphere project (archive) with the goal of recuperating this lost fat tail that contains so much of the niche knowledge humanity craves. We are ecstatic to embody a sliver of that.
Industry and field
Of course, our wiki is not to be shunted into its narrow perception as a wiki. No, the XionKB would be nothing if not for its relevance to the industry—those who economically cultivate technology—and the field—those who study and develop technology.
There are many things of great relevance in the contexts of original research and encyclopaedic collation. If the wiki's ultimate mission succeeds, it should serve as the seed for many great publications and even productions of popular culture.
Our bottom line: Our wiki is for us in spirit, yet for anyone else in practise. We strive to search within ourselves to find that which is worth writing about, and channel it into a medium that is most helpful for those who can be nothing like us.
