This page outlines the '''staff governance structure''' for prompt and effective administration of this WiredWiki. It is loosely modelled after the staff structure of [//bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Bulbapedia:Editorial_Board Bulbapedia's ''Editorial Board''] and associated administrative constructs. As this wiki is fairly new, much of the hierarchy is unimplemented and will remain so until there is enough activity to warrant it.

==Staff structure==
There are five (5) major user groups with staff powers attached to them. Each of them has a "staff glyph" of a specifically-coloured Greek letter associated with it; this will show up next to the usernames of such users in places like the [[Special:RecentChanges|RC log]]. For consistency's sake, bots are counted among this, but they are not staff in the usual sense because they are not humans. For completeness' sake, autoconfirmed users are listed as well, and although they have additional editing capabilities, they are also not staff.

Interface links have been decorated via [[MediaWiki:Common.css|the common site CSS]] to apply the staff glyphs to staff usernames, as well as two forms of semantic highlighting:
* '''Bolded usernames''' indicate bureaucratic empowerment on this wiki, ergo as bureaucrats, Editors-in-Chief, or Webmasters
* ''Italicized usernames'' indicate janitorial empowerment on this wiki, either as plain sysops or as bureaucrats or higher roles

Ordinarily, most bolded usernames will also be italicized inasmuch as they are applied to active editors, but this is not a requirement. For example, an editorially inactive webmaster may be bolded but not italicized.

===Editorial board===
The WiredWiki intends to facilitate a fully-staffed ''editorial board'', comprised of twelve (12) editorial board members and headed by an Editor-in-Chief, or EiC. For the sake of pragmatism, the only bureaucrats will be board members, so that one's status as a bureaucrat implies editorial board membership.

For the time being, the webmaster [[User:Alexander|Alexander]] is the acting EiC, and will continue to remain so until the wiki has fully matured. Once the wiki has a sufficiently-populated staff body and a desirable successor, the webmaster will hand over the reigns to the new ''proper'' EiC.

===Board elections===
Editorial board members hold their positions indefinitely, until they either die or vacate their post. In the event a seat is vacated, it may be filled by one or more board members nominating a sysop for promotion. When this happens, a vote is called among all existing board members, excluding the Editor-in-Chief. A simple majority decides whether promotion goes through. If the board is split 50-50, the Editor-in-Chief will cast a tie-breaking vote, but otherwise they do not vote in board member elections. The same voting process applies for electing a new Editor-in-Chief, with either the outgoing EiC or the Webmaster supplying a tie-breaking vote only if required.

===Administrators===
Administrators, also known as '''sysops''' or '''janitors''', possess more powerful editing abilities, such as the power to move and delete pages, suppress redirects, move and delete files, reupload new revisions of files, edit protected pages, protect pages, execute rollbacks, and more. Their role on the wiki is not bureaucratic, as they have no influence or vote in decisions for staff promotions or demotions, wiki policy changes, or other site changes.

===Forum staff===
[//forum.xion.mt/ The forum] also provides roles that elucidate the {{SITENAME}}'s staff structure on user profiles. As is typical for forum software, it uses a combination of colouring and bold + italics to the entire username to denote the user's staff role. Since our wiki uses symbolic suffixes for staff roles, these are simply appended to the usernames as necessary, combining with the various forum roles as necessary. Wiki staff roles show up on the forum as the forum is a social hub, but the opposite is not true, as recognising forum staff on the wiki has no utility.

A 3-bit by 3-bit bitfield (8&times;8 matrix) can be constructed to hold all of the possible user role combinations:
